Frequently Asked Questions

If you're looking for whipped shea butter, body oils, and other hair and body products loaded with artificial coloring and designer fragrances, we may not be for you. While we have nothing against cotton candy scented and rainbow-colored whipped butters, that's not what we do.

Instead, we manufacture 100% natural, plant-based hair and body products devoid of harmful chemicals, artificial coloring, preservatives, and perfumes. Although our plant-based hair and body solutions are inherently better, many customers have distinct questions about our products and processes.

Because of this, we’ve provided answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question answered below, don’t hesitate to Contact Us to ask!

Whipped Shea Butter FAQs

Yes! Our premium whipped shea butter will melt if it reaches a temperature above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Here’s why: we skip all preservatives and chemicals in our whipped shea butter formula. Instead, we only use the best, 100% natural, plant-based ingredients.

Because we do not use any preservatives, our whipped shea butters can and will melt when exposed to certain amounts of heat. Fortunately, if your whipped shea butter has melted, you only need to refrigerate it for about 30 minutes or so, and voila!

At Butter by Q, we take a lot of pride in quality control and implement several measures to ensure a premium product. Although we are extremely meticulous about our proven process, it's almost impossible to ensure the same consistency and texture from batch to batch.

This is because all of our natural plant-based ingredients were once living organisms. Each 100% natural ingredient we use has its own behavior pattern and DNA.

For example, our premium plant-based oils may have more or less of a fragrance depending on when they were harvested and grown. Although precise textures can vary from one batch to the next, one thing will always be consistent— you will enjoy a soft, creamy butter that melts into your skin.

Applying our whipped butter to your hair or body is as easy as it sounds. Just apply it to your skin, hair, and scalp. However, if you want to maximize the effectiveness of our creamy body butter, it's best to apply it to your hair or skin as soon as you leave the shower.

Or you can apply after you've cleaned your skin, after you wet your hair and scalp, and/or before bed. Doing so will ensure all of the key minerals, nutrients, and vitamins easily enter your skin at peak levels, locking in moisture and ensuring your skin is optimally protected, moisturized, and hydrated.

Nope! We skip all perfumes, non-descript fragrances, and artificial fragrances. Instead, we harness the best, natural, plant-based aromas and nutrients that Mother Nature has to offer. We are extremely conscious and feel good about every ingredient we put into our products, so you can feel and look even better when you put them on.

Umm..no. Scientists, researchers, and mega-size pharmaceutical companies have spent billions in research on how to do just that. While we will never claim Butter by Q cures eczema, we will stand by its effectiveness in helping to prevent and alleviate eczema breakouts. As parents of a child with eczema, we have used our formula on her for years. In fact, it's the reason we started the business.

Premium Body Oil FAQs

Just apply it to your skin…right? Well, yes and no. It's best to apply our body oils while you're standing in the shower or as soon as you hop out. Doing so will empower the oil to deeply penetrate skin layers to perform at peak levels, locking in moisture and ensuring your skin is optimally protected, moisturized, and hydrated.

As we previously mentioned, the best time to apply the body oil is right after you hop out of the shower onto damp skin. Simply apply the body oil and massage it into your skin for a few seconds. Then, use a towel to lightly tap dry, avoiding rubbing with the towel. By gently massaging, you are allowing the moisture of the oil and water to penetrate the outer layer of your skin. And this works to create a moisturizing barrier, locking the moisture in.

FAQs About 100% Natural Ingredient

Jojoba oil is a premium oil that doubles as a humectant, which means it works to attract moisture to the top layer of your skin, helping to keep it fresh and hydrated. Because jojoba oil has healing and anti-inflammatory properties, it's often used to alleviate and relieve itching, flaking, dryness, and other eczema-related symptoms. Jojoba oil has a healthy dose of B-complex and Vitamin E that can help repair skin and restore your youthful appearance. It also includes key minerals like copper, chromium, zinc, and the highest levels of antioxidants to leave your skin feeling and looking radiant. Unlike water-based moisturizers, jojoba oil lasts longer to provide a long-lasting layer of protection for your skin without feeling greasy.

Like jojoba oil, rosehip oil is a very exclusive, powerful, wonder oil that offers a multitude of skin benefits. It contains a power bundle of key nutrients and minerals — essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and 6), Vitamin A, F, C, carotenoids, and more — that make it a perfect combatant against eczema and dermatitis. Together, these vitamins help create a film over the surface of your skin to hold on to moisture and prevent skin dehydration. Vitamin A helps produce retinol to stimulate collagen production, which boosts the quality and resilience of your skin. Rosehip Oil is also loaded with trans-retinoic acid, a dynamic retinoid that helps your body regulate the production of new skin cells to reduce the likelihood of clogged pores. Simultaneously, the retinoids of Rosehip Oil can prevent blackheads, brighten your skin, and reduce inflammation.

It should come as no surprise that avocado oil is extremely beneficial for the skin and hair, considering how great the food is for the body. Together, these miracle nutrients and vitamins work around the clock to deeply nourish the skin and penetrate surface layers for a long-lasting effect. The Vitamin A component helps cell turnover, which leads to a more youthful glow. In addition to a host of other skin repair and enhancing attributes, apricot oil offers anti-inflammatory properties and works to fight acne-causing bacteria.

Shea butter is a core ingredient in our whipped butters, balms, and other products because of its high concentration of vitamins, fatty acids, Vitamins A, E, and F, triglycerides, cetyl esters, and more. Perfect for all skin types, shea butter boasts anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, and acne-prevention qualities. It can help increase collagen production, promote healthy cell regeneration, reduce the appearance of stretch marks, protect from the sun, treat dandruff, and more. Loaded with fatty acids and nutrients, shea helps repair damaged hair and reduce split ends. It can even soften the skin and fill in gaps to allow a smoother shave. Derived from the precious seed of the mango, mango butter is a powerful fat that simply works wonders for your skin and hair. It's loaded with fiber, Vitamin C, B6, A, E, and a host of valuable minerals, such as potassium, folate, calcium, and beta carotene. Together, these minerals work around the clock to moisturize your skin, clear blemishes, soothe the skin, and protect you from UV rays. It also helps increase collagen production, which works to slow the aging process by ridding your body of dead skin cells. The result is vibrant, glowing, naturally-toned skin with reduced wrinkles and reduced fine lines. In addition, mango butter boasts anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that help those suffering from eczema and other skin conditions.

As one of nature's most precious gifts, beeswax is a remarkable humectant that means it attracts water, which helps your skin stay moisturized and hydrated. Beeswax literally shines as a natural exfoliator, working to get rid of dead skin cells. It's loaded with Vitamin A helps reduce wrinkles, bolsters wound healing, protects against UV radiation, and stimulates skin cell turnover, which helps improve your youthful appearance and glow. The very protective nature of the beeswax helps keep moisture in your skin and reduces dryness for softer, more supple skin. It also has antibacterial properties that are instrumental in keeping your skin clean and reducing the likelihood of contamination. Some studies have even shown beeswax can inhibit the growth of fungus and bacteria, helping with situations like diaper rashes.
