Hi! We are Elliott and Quiana, cofounders and owners of Butter by Q. While we are the owners on paper, the two little ones run the show and represent the heart and soul of our company. Simply put, they are the "why" behind everything we do.

Our Purpose
Our purpose is to make 100% natural, plant-based cosmetics and products for those who may be sensitive to the alternative. We are proud to offer safe, artificial-fragrance-free, mineral-enhanced products that can be used on the entire family.

What Is Butter by Q?
Safe, natural, and pure — Butter by Q is a small, black-owned business that creates hand-crafted, premium products to invigorate your skin, soothe your mind, and refresh your spirit. Devoid of any harmful chemicals, obscure fragrances, perfumes, or preservatives, all of our products are made with the best ingredients Mother Nature has to offer.
We skip the unnecessary artificial coloring, additives, and chemicals, so you can skip the likelihood of skin irritation. Our products are so safe that we use them on our babies.
Our Journey Started with Eczema
After our daughter was born in 2019, we soon discovered she suffered from eczema, which causes itchy skin, rashes, dry skin, scaly patches, and more. Around the same time, we learned that most products on the market were loaded with synthetic additives, chemicals, and perfumes that caused additional irritation. Our daughter and the millions of other people with sensitive skin deserve better!
Mother Nature Knows Best
Our journey for a better, safer, and natural product immediately led us to Mother Nature's shea butter. Shea butter immediately proved to be effective at easing eczema flare-ups, treating diaper rash, and helping with skin discoloration. While effective, unrefined natural shea is messy and not easy to manage, which led us to investigate whipped shea butter products.
Unfortunately, it was more of the same with irritating chemicals, obscure fragrances, and synthetic coloring. The lack of clean, gentle, chemical-free, and perfume-free products drove us to create our own all-natural, whipped shea butter for our daughter.
We Whip It Like We Mean It...Because We Do
While our whipped shea butter worked nicely, we learned about certain natural vitamins and nutrients that offered unique benefits on their own. For instance, lavender is scientifically proven to calm, soothe, and help alleviate inflammation, which is perfect for those with eczema and other skin conditions. It doesn't hurt that lavender simply smells amazing.
Since then, Butter by Q has grown organically. We have expanded our product line, and we are developing multiple products and solutions designed for people who — like our daughter — suffer from skin issues. No matter what we do, we remain true to who we are and our why.
We began infusing the best of Mother Nature's fruits — like organic Vitamin E and lavender— to amplify the effects of our whipped shea butter. Our proprietary blend of plant-based essential oils, organic vitamins, and natural nutrients are all proven to restore, reinvigorate, moisturize, soften, and rejuvenate skin. Most importantly, all of our products are devoid of perfumes, nondescript fragrances, dyes, or other synthetic products. And the proof is in our daughter's skin.
